Networking and Support (Non-credit)

Short Term

These non-credit courses introduce students to Network concepts as well as competencies and skills that allows students to install, configure, diagnose, perform preventive maintenance, and maintain basic networking on personal computers. Each course prepares students for certification exams.

CompTIA A+ Certification, Core 1 and 2 prepares students to successfully pass the CompTIA A+ 220-1001 Core 1 and 220-1002 Core 2 certification exams.

Introduction to Cybersecurity Scholarship

The Power of Us will award female and non-binary students the cost of tuition and textbooks for the SEC-3100C Introduction to Cybersecurity course (section 90745), scheduled for January 8 - May 4, 2024. In addition, students that successfully complete and pass the course will receive a financial stipend.

How to Apply

To apply for this award, students must and submit a 500-word essay by December 6, 2023. Incomplete applications will not be considered. All applicants will be notified by email by December 13, 2023.  Awards do not require repayment unless you receive an award and then drop or withdraw from your class. Only completed applications, with a 500-word essay submitted with your application will be considered.

CTS-3255A CompTIA A+ Certification Core 1 and 2

This course covers competencies and skills that are validated by the CompTIA A+ certification exams, including operating systems, software troubleshooting, hardware, networking, hardware and network troubleshooting, security, mobile devices, virtualization and cloud computing, and operational procedures. Upon completion, students should be able to install, configure, diagnose, perform preventive maintenance, and maintain basic networking on personal computers. In addition, students are prepared to successfully pass the CompTIA A+ 220-1001 Core 1 and 220-1002 Core 2 certification exams.

SEC-3100C Introduction to Cybersecurity

This course introduces a variety of topics to build students skills and provide a broad foundational knowledge of networks and cybersecurity, and how they relates to information security and the Internet. The course introduces networking devices, technology concepts, characteristics of cyber crime, security principles, technologies, and procedures to defend networks. Students will learn how networks are set up, how devices are configured, how communication takes place on a network, and how to build technical and professional skills to pursue careers in cybersecurity.
