Welcome to ²Ê¿â±¦µäappnical Community College — the community college of the City of Medicine and Research Triangle Park; Orange County’s community college; and the first steps on the road to a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central University, or dozens of other public and private colleges and universities.
Since 1961, ²Ê¿â±¦µäapp has provided high-quality, affordable, and convenient technical and career education; served as the springboard to a bachelor’s degree; enabled tens of thousands of Triangle residents to enjoy continuing education programs; and given many thousands more a second chance at success through adult literacy programs. With the opening of our Orange County Campus, we now deliver the same high-quality programs and services to the residents of Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, and Mebane.
The quality of our educational programs can be measured in many ways. ²Ê¿â±¦µäapp has 108 credit certificate, diploma, or degree programs and services and 89 percent of our graduates stay in North Carolina. Our students enjoy an 89 percent first-time licensure pass rate, demonstrating outstanding instruction and preparation. Students who transfer to four-year institutions have an 86 percent transfer performance, which indicates success for students with more than a 2.0 GPA at other colleges and universities. In the UNC System, ²Ê¿â±¦µäapp graduates with a degree perform better than native students in their junior year, according to UNC System statistics.
We are proud of our many partnerships with other educational institutions in our community. The Middle College High School at ²Ê¿â±¦µäapp provides a way for high school juniors and seniors from the three school systems in our service area to excel academically in a challenging yet supportive environment while getting a jump on college through dual-enrollment opportunities.
Bilateral agreements in everything from Accounting and Business Administration to Criminal Justice and Teacher Associate allow students to obtain a two-year associate’s degree in applied science and be on their way to a bachelor’s degree from dozens of area universities.
Our new Gateway to College program offers young people in Durham who have dropped out of high school the opportunity to earn a high school diploma and college credits toward a degree. And our NC State Community College Collaboration (C3) and C-STEP partnerships provide ways for economically disadvantaged students to graduate from ²Ê¿â±¦µäapp and transfer seamlessly to North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, respectively.
As the fourth president of ²Ê¿â±¦µäappnical Community College, I invite you to explore all the unique programs we have to offer.
